The Art Study Group of the LA Piecemakers will be doing a trunk show of quilts the members have made at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at the United Church.
The group of about 10 quilters has been together for a number of years.
After taking a class together, they decided to form a group to continue to learn about art quilts.
They meet on the second Sunday of each month at the White Rock library. They have worked together on a group art quilt challenge-Hot Flash that was shown at the Knoxville AQS show.

Heath is a 3-year-old male shepherd mix who is a very mellow gentleman.
He is a sweet boy with a beautiful chocolate coat with apricot markings.
Heath would be a fine family member with adults, gentle children and most other dogs.
He has very good leash manners and the volunteers love walking him.
Heath is one of the Santa Fe Shelter pets transferred here to help with overcrowding.

Police captured the 19-year-old suspected Boston Marathon bomber after a day-long manhunt that shut down the city of Boston and several suburbs and left one police officer dead.
Residents flooded into the streets cheered following the arrest of the Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev to celebrate the end to five days horrendous days since the bombs wounded more than 175 people and killed three.

The U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a hearing yesterday to consider the president’s proposed budget for the Department of Energy for fiscal year 2014.
During that hearing, U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., sought assurance from DOE’s Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer Daniel Poneman that waste cleanup efforts at Los Alamos National Laboratory would receive sufficient funding this year.

LAPS Releases Open Letter to the Community

On April 17, 2013, the Los Alamos School Board formed a budget committee consisting of LAPS school staff, members from the community, School Board members, and representatives from the County government and LANL.
The committee was charged with the responsibility of building a proposed 2013-14 operational budget for the school district that will be presented at an upcoming public community meeting.
