Breaking News: No Injuries as Wind Damages Barranca Elementary Roof

BREAKING News:

Early reports indicate that severe wind damaged a portion of the roof in the 200 wing at Barranca Mesa Elementary School a short time ago.

There have been no injuries reported. Emergency responders are on scene as is Superintendent Gene Schmidt.

The Family YMCA After School Program has been canceled for today.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

May 9 at 10:31 a.m. / A 53-year-old Los Alamos man in the 1300 block of San Ildefonso Road reported that he was the victim of larceny. The estimated loss is less than $2,500.

May 9 at 12:33 p.m. / A 53-year-old Los Alamos man reported a case of extreme cruelty to animals/torturing and criminal damage to property in the 300 block of Conejo. The matter is under investigation.

PEDESTRIAN STOP AND RIDE THROUGH WORK ZONE

Contractor RMCI is required to maintain safe vehicular and pedestrian access throughout its Canyon Road construction project. 

The location of existing utilities, placement of new utilities and maintaining vehicular traffic has made it impossible to keep the swing of equipment out of the pedestrian path. This is an unsafe situation.
