Grants Man Arrested for Posting Threats on Internet

FBI News:

This morning the FBI arrested Paulo Nikko Peral, 20, of Grants, New Mexico, on a criminal complaint charging him with transmitting a threat to injure another in interstate commerce, in violation of 18 U.S.C. 875(c.)

Paulo’s arrest was announced by U.S. Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales and Carol K.O. Lee, Special Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Division of the FBI.

Peral made his initial appearance in federal court this afternoon. He remains in federal custody pending a preliminary hearing and a detention hearing, which are scheduled for tomorrow morning.

County’s Insurance Carrier Settles Lawsuit

Los Alamos County’s insurance carrier, the New Mexico Self-Insurer’s Fund, has settled a lawsuit filed by a former Parks and Recreation Department employee.
 
Melody Cross, a senior office specialist with the Parks Department filed the lawsuits in First Judicial District Court against Los Alamos County, Parks Manager Richard McIntyre and Parks Department employee Randy Lucero.

Column: Looming REAL ID Act Deadline

Over the past few weeks several community members have contacted me about the REAL ID Act and a looming Jan. 15 deadline.

The primary concern is that New Mexico is currently not in compliance with the REAL ID Act.

This means New Mexicans may not be able to use their drivers’ licenses to board commercial airlines after Jan. 15.
