Los Alamos Police Blotter: Dec. 8 to Dec. 12, 2012

The following information is provided by the Los Alamos Police Department.

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

Dec. 8 at 4:45 p.m. / A 71-year-old Los Alamos man reported that he was the victim of larceny in the 2000 block of 47th Street. The estimated loss is less than $250.

Dec. 10 at 11:25 a.m. / A 76-year-Los Los Alamos man on Los Pueblos reported that he was the victim of fraudulent use of his credit card. The estimated loss is $300.

Winter is here and Los Alamos County officials are asking residents to keep the following safety tips in mind:

Stay informed. Road condition updates, closings and delays will be broadcast on several popular regional TV and radio stations. Tune to the County’s emergency broadcast station (1610AM) or local KRSN 1490AM. You can find information about road conditions for State highways by calling 1-800-432-4269. Whenever possible, the County’s webpage will also list any County-related early closings, cancellations or delays (www.losalamosnm.us).

County Reminds Motorists of Safety Considerations

COUNTY News:

Winter weather is here, and the County would like to remind residents of some important safety considerations for motorists to take in order to make their travel as safe as possible.

Motorists are encour­aged to equip their vehi­cles with chains and/or snow tires and carry a con­tainer of sand and a shovel in their vehicle. Barrels of sand for public use are placed at locations that historically become icy and slick during storms, including:

Residents should call ahead before venturing out to any meetings or events today and tomorrow because there have been many cancelations around the community.
 
The Los Alamos High School Athletics Department issued the following cancelations:
  • High school wrestling at Capital canceled on Saturday.
