COMMUNITY News:
Wednesday, July 12, Dr. Dan Winske continues the Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum summer series by speaking on “Looking into the Future: Prediction and Prophecy.”
In this talk Winske examines the methodology of predicting the future, both in the context of science and of religion. In particular, he will survey how the scientific method allows making trustworthy predictions of future physical environments. He then shows how essentially this same methodology can be used to examine the validity of prophecy and promise from religious traditions (e.g., the Old Testament).
The theme of the summer series talks is “Hope: Science, Religion and the Future.” The meetings will follow the usual format: light supper at 6 p.m., the talk will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by questions for the speaker and then table discussions. These talks will be in the Fellowship Hall of the Unitarian Church, 1738 N. Sage Loop.
July 19, Chick Keller will speak on “Technology and Hope”.
The Los Alamos Faith and Science Forum (LAF&SF) is an incorporated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization seeking to understand faith and science and how they fit together. The website is www.lafsf.org.
