Fr. Glenn: Ever Ancient, Ever New
By Rev. Glenn Jones(Saturday morning) “Aaugh! The internet is down!! Panic! PANIC!!!”
Such is our dependence on this modern mode of communication. What would it be like, I wonder, if the internet and phones went down for a long period. Perhaps like “Dawn of the Living Dead”, young people especially would wander zombie-ish … thumbs spontaneously twitching by long-acquired habit, desperate to text.
I couldn’t help but laugh recently when a priest friend of mine—a bit of a comic—after frantically searching for, and finally finding, his cellphone, Read More

By Rev. Glenn JonesI don’t normally speak about Catholic saints in this column, but we celebrated the memorial of one on March 3 who was a saint connected with our area and thus might be of interest to many in the area: St. Katherine Drexel.
Katherine was born in 1858 into a prominent Philadelphia family, and her father and stepmother (her mother died only five weeks after Katherine’s birth) imbued early within her and her sisters a love of God and her fellow Man, especially of the poor and downtrodden. She took special interest in the material Read More

You don’t stumble upon your heritage. It’s there, just waiting to be explored and shared. –Robbie Robertson
Every time I had the chance, I would open my mom’s old cedar chest and pull out her childhood photo albums. They were filled with pictures of people that I had never met; uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents. Every picture seemed so intentional. Every person was always dressed for the occasion, smiling at the camera, and gladly preserving a moment in time. (When you don’t have the luxury of taking a thousand Read More
Sickly Coyote Survives Winter Appearing Healthier
This coyote spotted today along the edge of Pueblo Canyon survived the mild winter and appears much healthier than in December when she was severely underweight and missing most of her fur. Chairman James Robinson of the Land of Enchantment Wildlife Foundation has been keeping an eye on her and under the right circumstances intends to entice her to eat a pill to cure her mange. He recently imbedded a pill in a chicken breast and said she was sniffing it and likely about to devour it when two ravens swooped down and snatched it away from her. Photo by Carol A. Fr. Glenn: Crying ‘Havoc!’
By Rev. Glenn Jones“Doing something is at least better than doing nothing at all!” Well … not necessarily. At least, not the first thing that comes to mind without due consideration.
I always enjoy the 1995 movie “Apollo 13”, and one of the wisest lines in the movie is: “Quiet down! Quiet down! Let’s stay cool, people… Let’s work the problem … Let’s not make things worse by guessing!” Certainly anyone who has worked in engineering (or plumbing!) knows the wisdom of THAT statement. Even with well-considered actions, we’re often victim to Read More
