Lecture series speaker John Baumgardner
CALVARY CHAPEL News:
Is neo-Darwinism true? It is according to the National Academy of Sciences and the other professional science societies in our land. Yet the fields of molecular biology and genetics have been demonstrating conclusively for well over 20 years that the framework is untenable.
The community is invited to a lecture series on origins to hear 10 major technical reasons why neo-Darwinism is counterfeit science. The lecture is free at Calvary Chapel at 580 North Mesa Road in Los Alamos.

Fr. Glenn: Looking Ahead To The Past
By Rev. Glenn JonesEntropy: a measure of the amount of disorder within a system; lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder.” Such is an amalgam of some definitions found on the ‘net. More on that later.
Well … I recently caught myself doing … “it”: reminiscing in the past … the “When I was growing up…” syndrome. All that was missing was a few “whipper-snappers” thrown in. It doesn’t matter what it was—whether the three-channel black-and-white TV (weren’t we thrilled at receiving that round UHF antenna and a fourth channel!), Read More

What Is Orthodox Christianity?
What is Orthodox Christianity?
As I am out and about in Los Alamos, wearing my long black robe (it’s called a cassock, by the way) and cross, I get this question quite often. “What are you?”
I am an Orthodox Priest. A trained and ordained pastor, chosen by a bishop to serve the people of, Job of Pochaiv Orthodox Church, my parish, and the people of Northern New Mexico.
Orthodox means “right worship” or “right belief.” In essence our beliefs have not deviated from those of the earliest Christian communities, and we have our roots in their communities. Read More
Fr. Glenn: Ringing In The New Year
By Rev. Glenn JonesAnd so we come once again to a new year … and with the new year comes the anticipation of newness, improvement … and renewed hopes and dreams to be realized. (Personally, just “realizing” a few pounds of Christmas biscochitos off the midsection would make me pretty darn happy.)
We’ve ended the year here at IHM on a couple of really good notes. We had a new beautiful baby girl born a couple of days after Christmas—one of several newborns in our parish over the year, with the prospect of several more in the coming year as evidenced by Read More

Fr. Glenn: Blessed Are The Meek
By Rev. Glenn JonesAh, ‘tis the Christmas season—a time of joy for the billions of Christians throughout the world as we celebrate the birth of Jesus over two millennia ago. The nativity of Jesus (obviously) necessarily precedes in time and gets more press, but many non-Christians may not realize that Christmas is NOT the biggest Christian celebration of the year. The most important celebration is actually Easter with its celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from death, leading to our accompanying belief that He is the “first born from the Read More
Fr. Glenn: Laying The Foundation
By Rev. Glenn JonesPerusing local news, we see recent stories of brawling young lads at Smith’s … young lads walking quite unwisely across ice at Ashley Pond. I couldn’t help but remember my own days of teenage male youthfulness—the testosterone-fueled drives of pride and combativeness in young males, which so easily turns to rage—something seen throughout the animal kingdom.
Young men typically have feelings of inadequacy due to yet-unproven manhood and the longing to remedy such perceived deficiency—mine own exacerbated by Read More
Saint Job Of Pochaiv: Julian & Gregorian Calendars
Saint Job of Pochaiv Orthodox Christian Church at 1319 Trinity Dr. Courtesy photoFirst, I’d like to thank the Los Alamos Daily Post for dedicating the space for churches to post their schedules for Christmas services. It is a good thing to gather together in thanksgiving and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
You may or may not have noticed that Saint Job of Pochaiv was not included on that list last week. This was not an oversight. We do in fact celebrate the birth of Christ; it is a feast second only in rank of honor to the Resurrection at Pascha (Easter). Read More
