In October the State Game and Fish Department will begin stocking lakes and ponds in Southern New Mexico as part of their Winter Trout Stocking Program. These waters are too warm in the summer to sustain trout.

They cool down in the fall and during the winter they do not freeze so trout can survive. This offers anglers in that part of the state the opportunity to cast out without having to make a long drive. These stockings, including Tingley Beach and the drainage canals in Albuquerque, will continue throughout the winter until the end of March.  Read More

Mountain Club Swimmers Break New Mexico State Record

On September 21, 2025, Mountain Club swimmers set a new NM Swimming short course state record in the 10 & Under Mixed 200-Yard Freestyle Relay (2:05.28) at the 2025 Four Corners Short Course Opener.

The record-breaking team—Eleanora Minko (10), Preslee Robinson (10), Daniel Certik (10), and Jiadong Guo (9)—surpassed the previous record of 2:14.63, which had stood since January 2018.
