LAFC U9 Boys Soccer Team All Smiles After Fun Season

SPORTS News:

The LAFC U9 competitive boys soccer team was all smiles for their final game of the season! The team is made up of 2nd and 3rd graders from Los Alamos and White Rock, all attending local elementary schools.

The team finished the spring season undefeated outscoring their opponents 42-7. Most importantly, all the players exhibited incredible effort, teamwork and positive attitudes throughout the season!

There was a nice, soaking rain Sunday in the Espanola Valley. More rain is forecast for the coming week temperatures are on the cool side for May and the higher elevations are still getting snow. 

The moisture is most-welcome after our dry winter and meager snowpack. 

Streamflow in the Rio Grande remains low. The streamflow at Cerro near the Colorado border was just 173 cubic-feet-per second. 

There will be no big spring runoff from Colorado. Snowpack in the Rio Grande headwaters is just 17-percent of normal.

Congratulations to the Los Alamos High School Secret City Esports team took 2nd place overall in the Class 4A Team State Championship. The Rocket League, Splatoon and Mario Kart teams took first place, white Heathstone garnered a second-place finish.

Jemez Mountain Trail Runs Registration Closes May 6

Jemez Mountain Trail Runs News:

The Jemez Mountain Trail Runs races start and end in the Los Alamos townsite. Registration is open for all races until May 6.

The course is on technical trails with a substantial amount of elevation change. The 50k and 50-mile events include extremely steep climbs and descents on very technical terrain.

On the course, runners will experience high altitude (over 10,000 feet above sea level), scree fields, stream crossings, fallen trees and other obstacles.

Entry fees:

  • $140 for the 15-mile
  • $165 for the 50km
  • $190 for the 50-mile
