Thirty Senior Olympians Qualify for State Games

SENIOR OLYMPICS News:

The following 30 Los Alamos Senior Olympians qualified for the New Mexico State Games in Roswell in July. The Los Alamos Games included 48 events in 17 sports held over a one month period.
 
Participants ranged in age from 52 to 88. Eleven athletes were first time participants in the local games.

Results of Tuesday’s Pace Race Announced

PACE RACE News:

Twenty nine runners and walkers participated in Tuesday night’s pace race. 

Two courses were available, a paved course on the shoulder of route 501 or a rugged and challenging course on an old wagon road in the hills overlooking S-site with magnificent vistas of the mesas to the east all the way to Rio Grande valley and beyond.

One mile course results:

Ann Stewart Selected New Athletic Director of LAHS

LAHS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools has announced that Ann Stewart has been selected as the next athletic director of Los Alamos High School. 

Stewart was born in Los Alamos and attended Chamisa, Aspen, Pinon, Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School, where she graduated in 1991. She earned All-State honors in both soccer and basketball as a student athlete for Los Alamos High School. She attended Creighton University on a soccer scholarship until a back injury ended her soccer career.

Los Alamos soccer enthusiasts, friends, and families are invited to celebrate Jiri Kubicek’s contributions to Los Alamos Soccer. The party will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Rover Park in White Rock. Bring a side dish to share: veggies, fruit salad, appetizers or dessert. Registration Opens For 2014 Tour de Los Alamos

TOUR DE LOS ALAMOS News:
 
The 2014 edition of the Tour de Los Alamos is the 42nd consecutive running of the Southwest’s oldest bicycle race, and will be held Sunday, June 8.
 
Registration options:
  • Registration can be done on-line by clicking here;
  • In-person registration for the standard entry fee of $25 can be done 7-8 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at the Los Alamos National Bank;
  • In-person registration for the race-day entry fee of $45 can be done 6:30-7:30 a.m., Sunday at the starting area near El Parasol.
