ALBUQUERQUE — New Mexicans are invited to weigh in on a broadband proposal that will determine how hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants are used to expand high-speed internet statewide.
The public is invited to comment on the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion’s (OBAE) Final Proposal to award grants through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. Water Rights Transfer For Copper Flat Mine Reopening Denied By State Engineer

SANTA FE — The State Engineer issued her decision last week denying Tulla Resources’ application to transfer water rights needed to reopen the Copper Flat Mine near Hillsboro in southern New Mexico.
The State Engineer also noted the effects of climate change on New Mexico’s water resources. LUNA COUNTY — On Friday, Aug. 22, 2025, New Mexico State Police (NMSP) officers located a kidnapped teenager and arrested her suspected abductor.
At about 7:46 p.m., license plate readers (LPRs) alerted officers to a Volkswagen sedan traveling westbound on Interstate 10. The LPR hit indicated the vehicle was connected to the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl from Texas.
