Heinrich Cosponsors Bill To Strengthen Security Of Visa Waiver Program

Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and Senate Armed Services Committee, is an original cosponsor of bipartisan legislation introduced today to tighten the Visa Waiver Program to help prevent terrorists from entering the United States.

IRS Raises Expensing Threshold To $2,500 For Small Businesses

PHOENIX  The Internal Revenue Service has simplified the paperwork and recordkeeping requirements for small businesses by raising from $500 to $2,500 the safe harbor threshold for deducting certain capital items.
 
The change affects businesses that do not maintain an applicable financial statement (audited financial statement). It applies to amounts spent to acquire, produce or improve tangible property that would normally qualify as a capital item. The new $2,500 threshold applies to any such item substantiated by an invoice.

Chamisa Elementary School participated Nov. 12 in a World Sports Stacking Association (WSSA) Guinness World Record. The WSSA is trying to get 610,000 speed stackers in the world playing with cups in a 24-hour period.

WIPP: Safe Havens Increases Underground Safety

The WIPP site has made significant safety improvements. Recently, eight underground safe havens (or refuge chambers) were delivered to the site and will be downloaded into the WIPP underground prior to the restart of waste disposal operations.
