Prescribed Burn Planned On The Santa Fe National Forest Jemez Ranger District

SANTA FE  Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest are planning to conduct prescribed burns in the Joaquin Canyon on the Jemez Ranger District. 
 
The Joaquin Canyon prescribed burn area, a total of 142 acres, is located approximately 8 miles west of Jemez Springs. 
 
The plan is to conduct the prescribed burn between Oct. 27 and Nov. 30, but that window is dependent on favorable conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts, and may be extended further into the fall months.
