State Broadband Initiative Bridges Digital Divide For Rural Learners Across New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE – The Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) announced today a $2,395,072 grant awarded to Santa Fe-based NM Surf, Inc. to deliver high-speed internet access to rural students and school staff.

This funding represents the latest investment through OBAE’s $25 million Student Connect program, specifically addressing the critical disadvantages faced by rural students without home internet access. The nearly $2.4 million award is expected to connect 250 rural students through the Santa Fe Public project.

More Than 25,000 New Mexicans Get MMR Shots

SANTA FE — New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH). has announced that between Feb. 1 and May 12 — 27,123 New Mexicans received the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine — roughly twice the number of residents who got the shot during the same time last year.

“The MMR vaccine remains the best tool against the measles virus, and the ever-growing number of New Mexicans getting it speaks to their desire to slow the ongoing outbreak,” NMDOH Immunization Program Manager Andrea Romero said.
