SANTA FE – The Santa Fe National Forest will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites and amenities Monday, Jan. 19, to honor the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
“These fee-free days are our way of thanking our millions of visitors but also to encourage more people to visit these great public lands,” said U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Tidwell. “These lands belong to all Americans, and we encourage everyone to open the door to the great outdoors.”

Prescribed Burns Planned On Santa Fe National Forest

SANTA FE – Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest plan to conduct the Cedar Springs and La Jara prescribed pile burns on the Cuba Ranger District next week.
Scheduled for Monday, the Cedar Springs prescribed pile burn is 10 acres just north of the community of LLaves and west of the Dead Man Lookout. The La Jara prescribed pile burn, 275 acres northeast of the community of La Jara, is scheduled to begin Tuesday, and continue through March 30, if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather forecasts, are favorable.
