Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce $8.5 Million For Sipapu Ski Resort, Santa Fe Charter School

WASHINGTON – Thursday, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján announced that Sipapu Recreational Development in Vadito and the Academy for Technology and the Classics Foundation in Santa Fe will each receive more than $4.2 million in guaranteed loans to advance their operations.

WIPP Ventilation Fan Restarted
WIPP News:
Tuesday evening, workers at WIPP successfully restarted the 860A fan that is part of the mine ventilation and filtration system currently operating at the site.
The 860A fan was started Feb. 14, when continuous air monitors (CAM) in the WIPP underground facility detected elevated levels of radioactive contamination and shifted the underground ventilation system into filtration mode, forcing all air exiting the facility through High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters. Museum Of Indian Arts And Culture Awarded $105,000 Grant

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) awarded $105,000 to the Museum of New Mexico Foundation on behalf of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, to benefit the Museum’s archaeological collections.
The museum will use these grant funds to improve access to key artifacts that are part of the founding collections of the Laboratory of Anthropology (LOA), allowing the Museum to move the H.P. Mera Ceramic Survey Collection to the new repository at the Center for New Mexico Archaeology (CNMA), along with the other comparative and archaeological type collections. Read More

SANTA FE — Fire managers at Santa Fe National Forest are planning to continue a prescribed pile burn on the Jemez Ranger District.
The Los Griegos prescribed pile burn may be conducted Oct. 23 through Oct. 31 only on favorable days as conditions allow. A total of 300 acres of piles may be treated in an area adjacent to the Sierra Los Pinos community, 17 miles southwest of Los Alamos. Small blocks may be treated each day to decrease the daily smoke volume.
