After meeting with Los Alamos County officials Friday, USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner stopped by the Los Alamos Daily Post newspaper office to introduce himself and share information about his organization.

Gavin Laur, a Santa Fe native, will travel to Santa Barbara, Calif. in January to compete as a Division Finalist in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Senior Piano Competition.
Laur, the son of Ruth and Paul Laur, earned this opportunity after winning the Senior Division of the M1NA Statewide Piano Competition. A Junior at the New Mexico School for the Arts, Laur has been studying piano for 10 years and is currently a student of Stein way Artist Jacquelyn Helin.

WIPP employees recently completed the 100th entry into the WIPP underground facility since the February events that temporarily shut down access.

Teen alcohol use kills about 4,700 each year, more than all illegal drugs combined. In connection with Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-31, Mothers Against Drunk Driving® (MADD) New Mexico is launching a new social media pledge campaign that asks teens to #ProtectUrSelfie by staying alcohol-free until 21 and never getting in the car with a drinking driver.
This takes the place of the traditional pen and paper pledge and asks teens to grab a couple of friends and invite other peers to take a “selfie” with their mobile phones. Read More
