WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Nuclear Materials Safeguards and Security Upgrade Project (NMSSUP) was recently completed approximately $1 million under its original budget of $245 million.
NMSSUP upgrades security at Los Alamos National Laboratory’s (LANL) Technical Area-55, a facility that houses high-security plutonium assets and operations.

I-25 Road Rehabilitation Work Begins April 10

Santa Fe – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will start roadway rehabilitation work the week of April 7 on Interstate 25 north of Santa Fe between Canoncito and Glorieta (mile post 294.5 – 299.5).
There will be intermittent single lane closures starting on the northbound lanes of I-25 and then moving to the southbound lanes of I-25. Motorists can expect minor delays 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the work week.

Volunteers Invited To Plant Trees Along 501 Corridor In Los Alamos
SFNF News:
Santa Fe National Forest is seeking volunteers to plant trees within the 2011 Las Conchas Fire burn area, near Los Alamos. This activity will take place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at the Pajarito Canyon Trailhead, just south of the Pajarito Ski Hill turn off.
Douglas fir trees will be planted on 14 acres along the 501 corridor as part of a larger planting initiative. The trees were ordered in the fall of 2011, immediately after the Las Conchas Fire. Local seed stock was germinated in the spring of 2013 and the trees are now ready for planting.
