The Muster Tradition Event Set for Hilltop House Hotel Saturday

At 5 p.m. Saturday, the annual Texas Aggie Muster will be held at the Best Western Hilltop House Hotel to honor those Fallen Aggies.

Ron Selvage said that he is proud to organize this event.

Dr. Ann Wadstrom Died Sunday

Longtime Los Alamos resident Dr. Ann Wadstrom has died.

Wadstrom was 80 years old.

She encountered complications from a recent surgery.

Wadstrom was the president of the Los Alamos Federated Republican Women and region director of the New Mexico Federation of Republican Women.

She has been an active member of the United Church and participated on several civic and community committees over the years.

Lymphoma Seminar Set for Thursday

The Los Alamos Council on Cancer will be presenting a free community program on Lymphoma, Thursday, April 19.

Dr. Eric Bernstein, oncologist with the Northern New Mexico Cancer Care at Los Alamos Medical Center will be providing information on the historical significance of lymphoma, the differences between Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the relationship between radiation and lymphoma, the four stages of lymphoma and treating lymphomas with chemotherapy and radiation.

Superintendent to Address Policy and Curriculum Concerning Harassment in Schools at AAUW Meeting

The Los Alamos Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 715 Diamond Dr., to hear about Los Alamos Public Schools policy and curriculum concerning harassment in schools.

Superintendent Dr. Gene Schmidt of the Los Alamos Public Schools will speak about the current school district policy on bullying and sexual harassment.

Schmidt has a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Washington State University and more than 30 year’s experience in the field of education, including 12 years in the classroom.  Read More

Rotary Meets Tuesday at Fuller Lodge

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos will meet at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the Nambe Room upstairs at Fuller Lodge.

Donnie Torres and Richard Matteson will talk about the latest developments at the Los Alamos Golf Course.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos is one of only four clubs of the 71 that comprise District 5520 to be awarded the annual Literacy Award.

The local Rotary Literacy Committee includes Wendy Schmidt, Linda Anderson and Chris Sierk.

Key Club Sponsors UNICEF Benefit

Los Alamos High School Key Club is organizing a benefit concert for UNICEF’s Project Eliminate. In collaboration with Kiwanis and the rest of K-Family (including Key Club), UNICEF is hoping to eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world through this project.

The money raised through the concert will go directly to purchasing vaccines and the distribution of preventative health information.

Democratic Party of Los Alamos Meets Thursday

The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. April 19 at Mesa Library.

The agenda includes discussion of the upcoming dinner event on June 2 honoring a special Los Alamos Democrat, plans for July 4, the County Fair, and other events between now and the November election.

Looking forward, the May 17 meeting will be to attend the League of Women Voters forum at Fuller Lodge to listen to both Democrats and Republicans who have primary opponents. Read More
