Helicopter Hovering Overhead is Taking Aerial Surveys of Townsite

In response to concerned calls coming in today to the Los Alamos Daily Post about possible fires in Los Alamos, Deputy Fire Chief Justin Grider has confirmed that there are no fires burning anywhere in Los Alamos County. This Friday night, 7 p.m., Ashley Pond, we’ll be paying a tribute to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band, the Police.

Our band will be the Police Experience. Like the Police, our guys play internationally and nationally and deliver a high energy show.

Public Invited to Draft Airport Master Plan Open House

The public is invited to drop by an informal open house regarding the draft Airport Master Plan from 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday June 20, in Council Chambers at 475 20th St.
Delta Airport Consultants is the County’s contractor for this project and will be on hand to answer questions during the open house.
The draft Master Plan is available to review prior to the open house on the County’s website at www.losalamosnm.usunder the “Projects/Airport Master Plan” link.

Golf Course Dedication Ceremony Honors Ed Griggs

All the carts are loaded and ready to go at the start of the tournament. At the go signal everyone goes dashing off to their assigned tee – the official start is called a “shotgun” start, which is now a horn blast. The Ed Griggs Memorial Strong Kids Classic held at the Los Alamos Golf Course Saturday honors noted golfer Ed Griggs who passed away last year. He played his final round of golf in the Strong Kids Classic tournament last year. It is the second major fundraiser of the year for the Los Alamos Family YMCA. There were 28 foursome teams entered in the best ball scramble tournament.

Portable Building Moves Smoothly Through Town

A new portable building made its way up the truck route and through the town to Los Alamos Middle School today. Traffic interruptions were minimal due to the efficient planning and skill of the over size load crew and Los Alamos County Traffic Engineering personnel, police said. Photo by N.S. Mills

Effective this evening, the Los Alamos Fire Department will be posting signs and taping off fire rings and grills in locations throughout Los Alamos County.

Some locations in specific parks that are yet to be determined may remain open due to the location of such device in relation to safety distances from combustible and flammable material.
