Johnny Roman Garza, 21, a member of the Neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen Division, was sentenced today to 16 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in a plot to threaten and intimidate journalists and advocates who worked to expose anti-Semitism.

FBI: Albuquerque Man Charged With Being A Felon In Possession Of Firearms And Ammunition

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Jay Bickford, 48, of Albuquerque, appeared in Federal Court for a detention hearing Nov. 24, charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Bickford will remain in custody pending trial.

According to a criminal complaint, Aug. 21, Bickford allegedly was driving a motorcycle with no plate or temporary tag, resulting in a traffic stop by law enforcement.

FBI: Tohajiilee Man Pleads Guilty To Murder And Use Of Firearm In Crime Of Violence In Indian Country

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Tristian Cadman of Tohajilee, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder and using a firearm in a crime of violence.

A grand jury indicted Cadman Sept. 11, 2019.

In his plea agreement, Cadman admitted that early in the morning of Aug. 21, 2019, he and an associate armed themselves and attempted to rob the victim and the victim’s companion. Following a scuffle, Cadman shot and killed the victim.

The murder took place on the Navajo Nation. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Cadman faces 10 years to life in prison.

Judicial Compensation Commission Meets 3 P.M. Today

SANTA FE — The Judicial Compensation Commission will hold an online meeting today to finalize its recommendations and report to the 2021 Legislature concerning judicial salaries.

The meeting will be live streamed at 3 p.m. today on the New Mexico Courts YouTube channel.

The independent six-member commission is required by state law to annually recommend a judicial pay plan to the Legislative Finance Committee and the Department of Finance and Administration.

New Mexico Supreme Court Schedules Hearing In Case Over Business Compensation For Pandemic Losses

Administrative Office of the Courts News:

The Supreme Court issued an order today scheduling oral arguments on Jan. 13 in a case over whether the state must compensate businesses for losses from temporary closures or other public health emergency restrictions.

The Court’s order establishes a schedule for the parties to submit legal briefs and it stays district court proceedings in more than a dozen lawsuits filed by businesses seeking compensation.
