NMSP Arrest Dangerous, Wanted Felon In Rio Arriba County

NMSP News:

VELARDE — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Suppression Bureau on Dec. 19, 2024, gathered intelligence on the whereabouts of 43-year-old Daniel Romero, who was wanted for multiple violent felony warrants.

NMSP Crime Suppression Bureau and Uniform Bureau Officers arrived at a residence on 1040 Private Drive to apprehend Romero.

With the assistance of the NMSP Tactical Team, Romero exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

New Mexico State Police Probe Quadruple Homicide In Belen

BELEN – On Dec. 14, 2024, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate a quadruple homicide that occurred at a residence on Camino Escondido in Belen.

Agents learned that at around 3:30 a.m., the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Diego Leyva,16, who told the dispatcher he had killed his family.

When deputies arrived, Diego walked out of the residence with his hands in the air and was extremely intoxicated. He was taken into custody without incident.

ALBUQUERQUE – A Brimhall, New Mexico man has been charged with two felony crimes—Assault of a dating partner by strangling and Assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Victor Badonie, 32, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, appeared before a federal judge and was released with conditions to include home detention and GPS monitoring. Trial in this case has not been scheduled.

DEMING — Dec. 1, 2024, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving NMSP.
