Letter to the Editor: Nothing Short of Miraculous!

On Friday night, the Blue Window Bistro suffered a plumbing disaster resulting in flooding.

This could also have been a disaster for the Los Alamos Concert Association as we had reserved the restaurant for a post-concert dinner for 60 people, following the performance of Amsterdam’s Calefax Reed Quintet Sunday evening.

Instead, Melissa Paternoster and her wonderful staff flew into action and catered the dinner at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Creole Nouvelle Now Open for Breakfast

For the past two months, Creole Novelle has been drawing crowds to 1793 Deacon St. for lunch Monday through Friday.

Scalloped Potatoes with Ham and Bacon

Ingredients:
 
3 Tablespoons butter
2 Tablespoons flour
1 Tablespoon of bacon grease
Salt and Pepper
2 cups cream
1/2 cup milk
(opt- 2 cloves garlic,pressed)
6 cups slices potatoes(6 medium). I have used a mandolin to cut my potato, but you can just use a knife.
1 small onion (chopped)
2 cups chopped ham
1/2 cup bacon, fried and crumbled fine
1 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
1 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)

1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil

1/2 teaspoon ground rosemary
1-2 teaspoon kosher salt
ground pepper
red pepper flakes
4-5 cloves garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon granulated garlic
1 teaspoon parsley

The Los Alamos Cooperative Market is hosting its first wine and food pairing class Saturday, April 6 in the Co-op’s Café.
