LAHS Hilltalkers Hot Waffle Breakfast May 11

LAHS News:

The LAHS Hilltalkers would like to invite the public to their all-you-can-eat Waffle Breakfast 7:30-10 a.m., Saturday May 11 at Pajarito Mason Lodge, 15th Street and Canyon Road in Los Alamos. 

The breakfast features scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits and waffles with whipped cream, blueberry and cherry toppings. Coffee, tea and juice will be served.

Tickets are $6 each and can be purchased at the door. Children under 6 eat free.

School Board to Meet Saturday

LAPS News:

The Los Alamos School Board has scheduled an Executive Session at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Town Hall in White Rock to discuss certified and classified negotiations of the collective bargaining agreements per Section 10-15-1-H(5) of the Open Meetings Act.

Following that meeting, the Board will hold a retreat at 9 a.m for the purpose of discussing Board goals and aligning the budget to the Strategic Plan. Read More

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos Phi Theta Kappa, Beta Zeta Chi Chapter recently welcomed 29 new members – the largest group of new members in its history.

Sunday marked the 4th Annual Great Conversations fundraiser hosted by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation; a delicious afternoon of sharing ideas with a diverse group of Los Alamos-ites, who enjoy critical thinking, problem-solving, listening intently with an open mind to new ideas and worldly experiences of some neighbors we hadn’t had a chance to know until Sunday’s “meeting of the minds.”

Kids Create Journals at PEEC May 18

Kids, like adults, can enjoy creating journals about memorable experiences with nature or travel. 

This workshop for kids aged 8 through 12 gives them the chance to make one journal for the day’s activities and one to take home to use on a summer vacation or an adventure trip in the woods.

Los Alamos Lacrosse Season Driving into State Playoffs

LAHS News:

The Los Alamos High School Lacrosse team plays its last regular season home game at 4:30 pm. this Friday at Overlook Park in White Rock (Dara Jones Field) against Bosque Prep.

The season has played out very well with a 6-3 record against its league opponents. 

The team is currently tied with Bosque for 2nd place, which will be determined by Friday’s game. Quarter final games will be played next week. Los Alamos hopes to advance to the semi-finals May 9 and the championships Saturday, May 11, both to be held at Sandia Prep in Albuquerque.

Ann Stewart Named Girls Basketball Head Coach

LAHS News:

Los Alamos High School Athletic Department announces that Ann Stewart has been named Head Coach of the Girls Basketball Program. 

In January of 2013, Stewart took over the Head Girls position on an interim basis after Coach Tarah Logan’s resignation. 

The team finished 17-13 overall and 5-3 in district and the girls earned a trip to the State Tournament. 

They defeated Deming in the first round before losing to the State Champion Los Lunas in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament.
