Final results are in for Aspen Elementary School’s Tiger Trot fundraiser held in October – the event raised early $10,000 for the school.

Marcus Gutierrez, a senior at Los Alamos High School (LAHS), was honored as Rotary Student of the Month for October.  

Gutierrez is the son of Melinda and Joaquin Gutierrez and brother of Deanna and James Gutierrez.

The Rotary Club of Los Alamos selects one student each month of the school year to honor as a Student of the Month.

Self-taught African Teen Wows MIT

Kelvin Doe, 15, is an engineering whiz living in Sierra Leone who scours trash bins for spare parts, which he uses to build batteries, generators and transmitters.

Completely self-taught, Doe has created his own radio station where he broadcasts news and plays music under the moniker, DJ Focus.

Doe became the youngest person in history to be invited to the “Visiting Practitioner’s Program” at MIT.

During UNM-LA on Display: Spotlighting Student Projects, more than 20 students from the visual arts, humanities, business, science and technology, presented projects on what they learned in their classes this semester.
