Power Has Been Restored To Barranca Mesa

COUNTY News:

Standby electric linemen from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) have  restored power that that affected about 585 customers this evening on Barranca.

The outage was caused by an underground fault on Los Pueblos. When the fault occurred, a breaker simultaneously malfunctioned, causing the outage to impact not only the Los Pueblos area, but the rest of Barranca Mesa.

DPU has crews on standby 24/7 for electric, natural gas and water disruptions.

County: Utilities Department To Propose Two Rate Changes

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is proposing two rate changes, for electric and sewer services, and a future rate restructuring that would allow DPU to implement Time-of-Use billing for electric service.

Proposals for the rate ordinances will be introduced to the BPU at its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, with the public hearings at the following BPU meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16. High Wind Precaution May Be Put In Place In Los Alamos

With high winds in the forecast for today, March 6 and Friday, March 7, the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) has alerted Los Alamos County of the possibility for loading all power to Los Alamos onto one transmission line temporarily starting this afternoon.
