The chance visit of a California Condor to Joe Fitzgibbon’s yard in April of last year inspired him to embark on a journey to learn more about his unusual visitor.

Fitzgibbon will share photos, stories and other information about the California Condor, their life history and recovery efforts at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. This is a free talk at the Los Alamos Nature Center.

Craig Martin will lead a hike Saturday, Nov. 5 down the Blue Dot Trail. This rugged hike includes great views, interesting petroglyphs, natural springs and 1,000 feet of elevation gain—all the climbing is on the return trip. Participants will enjoy great views, experience a variety of ecosystems, and get a workout.

FARMINGTON ― The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Farmington Field Office and the Bureau of Indian Affairs’ (BIA) Navajo Regional Office announced Oct. 21 the start of an expanded resource management planning effort for northwest New Mexico with the publication of a Notice of Intent in the Federal Register.
