Las Cumbres Community Services Celebrates 50 Years!

Las Cumbres Community Services (LCCA) is celebrating its 50th anniversary! Services first began in 1970 White Rock, with a sheltered workshop for adults with developmental disabilities to provide vocational, social and living skills training.

The agency received its 501c3 status in 1971 and has continued to grow since that time to meet expanding community needs resulting in the addition of community infant and early childhood and youth and caregiver services.

There are close to 20 programs in place today across Child and Family as well as Adult Services.

New Mexico COVID-19 Sept. 4-7 Update: 2,510 New Cases, Totaling 237,889 With 10 New Deaths And 205,886 Recovered

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials announced 2,510 additional COVID-19 cases between Sept. 4 and Sept. 7 in New Mexico.

Los Alamos County reports 7 new cases during the last four days bringing the total to 630 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 10 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 709 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 168 new cases in Chaves

Scenes From LANL Workers Protesting Vaccine Mandate

The New Mexico Freedoms Alliance organized a protest today in response to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees. A couple of hundred LANL workers gathered today in a Freedom Assembly at Ashley Pond Park. The ‘Call Out’ was a demonstration of how many LANL workers could potentially leave the organization if the rule-makers do not rescind the vaccine mandate, and thereby force many workers off the job permanently. New Mexico Public Education Department Receives $9 Million Mental Health Grant

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) has been awarded a five-year grant worth nearly $9 million to help three New Mexico school districts expand their mental health services to promote healthy development of school-aged youth and prevent youth violence.

LANL Workers To Protest Vaccine Mandate Tuesday

In response to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) mandating the COVID-19 vaccine for all employees, hundreds of workers will be Calling Out and gathering 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7 in a Freedom Assembly at Ashley Pond Park.

Nine Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Events Sept. 7–11

NMPED News:

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) announces that COVID-19 vaccines are available at nine Mobile Vaccination School Events during the week ending Sept. 11.

Anyone can get a COVID-19 vaccine at these events, although the focus is on eligible students. Those under age 18 need to provide a signed consent form, but parents do not have to be present for student vaccination.

Schools may request an on-site vaccination event through this Department of Health webform. Schools should have at least 25 eligible people, who can include family and community members. Read More
