Los Alamos Council On Cancer News:
The American Cancer Society estimates that some 91,270 new melanomas will be diagnosed in the United States in 2018.
The rates of melanoma have been rising for the last 30 years and close to 10,000 people are expected to die of melanoma in this country this year.
While these statistics are alarming, melanoma, is less common than other types of skin cancer but it is more likely to spread. The good news is that melanoma can be found early when it is most likely to be cured.
