SANTA FE  Global Outreach Doctors (GoDocs), a humanitarian organization of MDs, RNs, DOMs and other professionals led by Naturopath Dr. Andrew Lustig of Santa Fe is about to deploy a team of 12 March 29 to the Syrian/Jordan border.
 
The Zataari Refugee Camp just passed its third anniversary and shelters more than 120,000 men, women and children. GoDocs along with its partner, Syrian American Medical Society, will bring aid and supplies to more than 1000 refugees each day

The Los Alamos Fire Department has formed an EMS Bike Team. This new team will enable our EMTs to quickly reach patients who may be located in an area not easily accessible by our ambulances. 

LAFD first got the idea for the team by observing the police bike team working the July 4 celebration at Overlook Park in White Rock. The Los Alamos JJAB has space available in the Youth Mental Health First Aid training taking place this weekend.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an evidence based, nationally recognized and accredited course that teaches adults who work with youth how to identify symptoms of different types of mental illness.

As with any first aid class, there is an action plan to help a youth in crisis. Trainees learn how to assess the person for risk of harm or suicide, listen non-judgmentally, give reassurance, and encourage the person to seek professional help.

Members of the Los Alamos Community Health Council gathered last Thursday for its monthly meeting in the third floor conference room at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building.
