Governor to Honor Fallen Military Members at Wreaths Across America Ceremony

SANTA FE — Gov. Susana Martinez will honor fallen military members by delivering the keynote address at New Mexico’s Wreaths Across America ceremony at the New Mexico State Capitol.

 

The special event is at 10 a.m., today, Dec. 9 at the New Mexico State Capitol Rotunda, 490 Old Santa Fe Trail in Santa Fe.

IRS Announces 2014 Mileage Rates

IRS News:

PHOENIX – The Internal Revenue Service has issued the 2014 optional standard mileage rates used to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.

 

Beginning on Jan. 1, 2014, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (also vans, pickups or panel trucks) will be:

 

  • 56 cents per mile for business miles driven
  • 23.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes
  • 14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations

More Than 122 Million Returns e-Filed in 2013

PHOENIX – The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently announced a milestone for IRS e-file: more than 122 million returns were e-filed during 2013.

This year, the IRS received more than 45.2 million returns from those who prepared and e-filed their own returns on home computers, up from 43.2 million a year earlier, an increase of 4.6 percent. E-filed returns from tax professionals increased slightly, totaling more than 77 million returns. NNSA Removes High-Activity Radioactive Materials From Boston

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) recently successfully recovered a disused, high-activity cesium-137 source from Massachusetts General Hospital in downtown Boston, Mass. and transported it for permanent disposition.
