WHITE HOUSE News:

WASHINGTON, DC— In this week’s address, President Obama commemorated Memorial Day by paying tribute to the men and women in uniform who have given their lives in service to our country.

The President said that America has always risen to meet and overcome its challenges because of their brave sacrifice, and asked all Americans to honor our fallen heroes and to stand with our veterans and military families as we come together this weekend.

Community Welcome at Memorial Day 2013 Ceremony

This year’s Memorial Day community celebration will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27 at Guaje Pines Cemetery.

We welcome the entire community to attend. The theme is “Remembering those who have lost their lives for their country and a special remembrance of Vietnam.” 

Memorial Day is a National Holiday to thank and honor the more than 1,258,000 Americans who have given their life for their country during wartime and conflicts around the globe defending freedom and our way of life.

Luján: Republican Student Loan Bill Makes College More Expensive

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District voted today against a House Republican bill that will make it more expensive for students to attend college with federal subsidized Stafford student loans. Bandelier Memorial Day Activities; Shuttle Buses Begin Friday

The Memorial Day holiday marks the beginning of the summer season at Bandelier National Monument, with the shuttle buses beginning Friday, May 24, and special activities happening throughout the weekend.

“If you haven’t been to Bandelier lately, this is a good time to come,” Park Superintendent Jason Lott said. “You can catch a free bus in White Rock, relax and enjoy the scenery on the way to and from the park, and have a leisurely day with the family in Frijoles Canyon.”

The shuttle buses begin running Friday morning.

Charger Aquatics – Los Alamos swim team is setting up a donation collection table 3-6 p.m. Thursday, May 22 in front of Smith’s Food and Drug Centers, 535 Central Ave., in Los Alamos to help with the relief efforts for injured and displaced pets affected by the devastating tornados in Moore, Okla. this week.

I believe the IRS should withdraw all tax exempt status from any organization which endorses any political candidate.

This should extend to other categories in addition to this particular 501c organization group, including religious and social organizations!

No 501c organization should be allowed to make contributions to PACs or to candidates. Certainly political action groups are allowed to do whatever they want but they should not be tax exempt. Any tax exempt 501c organization should make public their financial contributors!
