Bandelier Chief Called to Mt. Rainier Tragedy

Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott was activated Thursday night with the National Park Service Incident Command Team and flew out early Friday morning to help with rescue operations and logistics at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington state.

Lott is expected to be on scene in Washington State for the next week or so.

Manhattan Project Historical Park Site Bill Moves Through Congress

Chairman Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) today introduced legislation that would designate Manhattan Project sites around the country as a National Historic Park. 

Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Tom Udall (D-NM) and Patty Murray (D-WA) are cosponsors of S. 3300.

A work party coming from the visitor center and another from the highway are separated by elk herd as Saturday’s fence tear-down endeavor got underway at the Valle Caldera National Preserve.
