NNSA Issues Floodplain Statement Of Findings For Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade Project

NNSA News:

The National Nuclear Security Administration’s Los Alamos Field Office has issued a Floodplain Statement of Findings for the Electrical Power Capacity Upgrade (EPCU) Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

The EPCU Project would provide a permanent electrical upgrade for LANL, including poles with guy and anchor wires for overhead power lines, and electrical substation and switchgear upgrades. The proposed project would cross through Department of Energy (DOE) lands managed by LANL, Santa Fe National Forest land, and the Bureau of Land Management property. This Read More

LANL: Energized Watershed Project Could Boost New Mexico Economy And Increase Water Security

He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of St. Andrews and a degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University, where he was also a professor. SANTA FE — Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) is accepting applications for its free Environmental Technician training programwhich provides the training, skills and certifications necessary to enter a wide range of job opportunities in the environmental profession.

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 22, 2025. The free training runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, Sept. 29 through Oct. 31, at the Santa Fe Higher Education Center, 1950 Siringo Road.

Los Alamos has lost a friend. Tom Lehrer, musician and mathematician, died July 26 in Cambridge, Mass., at age 97.

Some people will not recognize the name. but those who date back to the 1950s on the Hill and those who were in college in the ‘50s and ’60 s remember Lehrer’s songs, most of them written by Tom himself. They were light and fun.

Just a few years ago, Liz Martineau, Gordon McDonough, and I got the idea of playing Lehrer’s music in the Bethe House for visitors to enjoy. We had old records to make that idea possible, but we felt that we should ask Tom’s  permission. Read More
