CYFD Awards $517,500 Grant to First Born® Los Alamos

First Born® Los Alamos has been awarded a $517,500 grant from the New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department to resume providing support for families having their first child.

CYFD will award $172,500 a year over five years to serve 58 families each year. First Born Los Alamos, which opened in 2008, had been closed for two years due to lack of funding. LANL Foundation Expands Educational Outreach Small Grants Program

The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation has expanded its Educational Outreach Small Grants program to include school district and nonprofit projects outside of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Grants of up to $1,500 are available monthly to support public schools and nonprofits working in education in Los Alamos, Mora, Rio Arriba, San Miguel, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Taos counties. Nonprofit focus should be on teacher professional development, curriculum enhancement and support for classroom instruction and student learning.
