She came to the United States in the early 60s. She met her husband, Carl, in June of 1974 in Mexico City, Mexico. Their love for each other developed quickly on a tour bus on the way from Mexico City to Acapulco. They were married on June 12th, 1976 in New York City, NY at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was born April 1, 1925 to Edythe and Edward Coffield. The doctor announced to the father of three girls that he finally had a boy. The April Fools’ joke was not appreciated as the doctor was never asked back to care for the family.
