LOS LUNAS – On April 24, 2026, New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau agents were requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting (OSI) involving NMSP in Los Lunas.

Agents learned that at around 8:30 p.m., the officer engaged their emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Manzano Road on a grey 2004 Dodge pickup truck. The vehicle failed to yield and continued driving before stopping at 4 Sierra Vista Drive in Meadow Lake.

DEMING – On April 23, 2026, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting involving the United States Marshals Service (USMS).

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, members of the United States Marshals Service (USMS) were involved in an officer involved shooting incident while attempting to apprehend fugitives who were wanted on various child sex crimes. Texas Woman Sentenced For Fentanyl Distribution In Southern New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE — A Texas woman has been sentenced for her role in a drug trafficking organization that distributed fentanyl into southern New Mexico.

According to court documents, between Jan. 24, 2024, and Feb. 7, 2025, Mayra Mendivil, 37, participated in a drug trafficking organization operating between Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, and southern New Mexico. ALBUQUERQUE — A Morgan Lake man pleaded guilty to striking and injuring a Navajo Nation Police officer with his car.

According to court documents, Sept. 28, 2025, officers from the Navajo Nation Police Department responded to a report of a suspected drunk driver. ALBUQUERQUE — An Egyptian national was sentenced to 18 months in prison for illegally possessing a firearm after pointing a handgun at a victim at a Las Cruces gas station.
