The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos had a big week helping voters gain a better understanding of the candidates running for local, state and national offices in the Nov. 8 election.

The League hosted two candidate forums, the first held Sept. 29 featured candidates running for Los Alamos County Council. The second forum held Oct. 3 highlighted State Representative District 43, Magistrate Judge, County Sheriff, County Assessor, Probate Judge and Municipal Judge.

Governor’s Wildfire Grant Program Provides $1.5 Million To Assist 162 Businesses Affected By Wildfires

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Wednesday that $1.5 million has been awarded to 162 New Mexican businesses as part of the Wildfire Business Assistance Grant Program she created in August. 

Some 100 businesses will receive the maximum award of $11,196 while other businesses will receive emergency awards ranging from $1,000 to $10,851. “These businesses, like the residents of these communities, have gone through so much this year,” Gov.
