Administrative Office Of The Courts Announces Funding Increase For Regional Behavioral Health Planning

AOC News: 

SANTA FE – Additional funding will be available for regional behavioral health planning across New Mexico, the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) announced today.

Up to $60,000 – an increase from $45,000 – will be awarded in each of the state’s 13 behavioral health regions for the development of regional plans for providing behavioral health services. The plans are required under the Behavioral Health Reform and Investment Act, which was enacted earlier this year. The reform legislation was Senate Bill 3 during this year’s legislative session. Hundreds of Los Alamos residents turned out for the No Kings Day 2.0 protest Saturday at Ashley Pond Park. The protest, organized by Indivisible Los Alamos, is the second held this year. The first was in June. Every state participated in Saturday’s protest along with several other countries. It is reported that more than 7 million people attended protests in the U.S. in response to growing concern that the Trump administration is exercising authoritarianism. Council To Consider GRT Increase At Oct. 28 Meeting

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, in Council Chambers at 1000 Central Ave., to consider adopting two ordinances that would increase the County’s gross receipts tax (GRT) rate by five-eighths of one percent (0.625%).

Proposed Ordinance 748 would increase the County portion by 0.0125% and Ordinance 747 increases the municipal portion by 0.6125%.

If approved, the total GRT rate would increase from 7.0625% to 7.6875%, effective July 1, 2026. At that rate, GRT would total eight cents on a $1 purchase, 77 cents on a $10 purchase, and $7.69 Read More

Thieves Are Stealing No Kings Day 2.0 Signs

To deter thieves, signs are now embedded in concrete, placed in buckets with zip ties, and placed in areas where video cameras are present. This one is near Los Alamos High School. Four of these signs in concrete have been placed along Trinity Drive within the view of the police cameras.
