The Los Alamos County Council has scheduled a discussion regarding the current nuisance code for its Nov. 7 work session. In preparation for that discussion, Council requested that County staff provide detailed information regarding its efforts during the past several months – in order that the conversation next week can be based on the best data.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is relieved by China’s announced release of Chinese-born Swedish publisher Gui Minhai, who had been held incommunicado for two years and one week, but points out that dozens of journalists and bloggers continue to be detained in China.

Judge Orders Consolidation Of Sheriff-Related Cases

Judge Francis J. Mathew has granted an unopposed motion to consolidate two ongoing First Judicial Court cases involving Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero. The order was filed Oct. 23 in Court.

The first case was filed against Los Alamos County Council by Lucero Aug. 29 asking the Court for a writ of mandamus directing the Council to fulfill its statutory responsibility to fund the Office of the Sheriff adequately for him to perform what he believes are his statutory duties.
