SFNF Offices To Close Thursday For Juneteenth Holiday

SFNF News:

The federal holiday, observed on Thursday, June 19, is a Fee-Free Day.

SANTA Fe — All Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) District Offices and the Supervisor’s Office in Santa Fe will be closed Thursday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

All offices will resume regular business hours Friday, June 20.

In observance of the federal holiday, June 19, is a Fee-Free Day. This means the Forest Service waives recreation fees at most day-use sites on lands managed by the agency.

Enjoy the remaining Fee-Free Days of 2025:

  • National Public Lands Day: Sept. 27; and
  • Veterans Day: Nov.

Stansbury Fights For Expanded Access To Healthcare

U.S. Congressional News:

WASHINGTON, D.C.  — U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury (NM-01) fought for expanded access to healthcare in rural and Indigenous communities during an Indian and Insular Affairs Subcommittee hearing.  

Her bill, the IHS Provider Expansion Act, was reintroduced earlier in the month, and testimony about the legislation was heard during the subcommittee hearing.

County Council Adopts Wildland Urban Interface Code

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has adopted new building rules to help protect homes, families, and the environment from wildfires. The County approved Ordinance No. 02-368 in May 2025, using important parts of the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC). These rules are made to keep buildings safer in areas where homes and wildland meet.

Senior Activity Centers To Close Thursday For Juneteenth

LARSO News:

Betty Ehart and White Rock Senior Activity Centers will be closed Thursday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

All regularly scheduled activities are canceled, and no congregate meals will be served on Thursday, June 19. Home Delivered Meal recipients, please expect to receive a frozen lunch for the closure between Tuesday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 18.
