Letter To The Editor: UNM-LA Advisory Board

By JAMES ROBINSON
Los Alamos

Recently, I announced my candidacy for the UNM-LA Advisory Board.

I had previously sought this position in 2013, but lost to Michael DiRosa. Then, earlier this year, I sought to replace Michael DiRosa after he accepted a new position in Washington DC. Although still unsuccessful, I vowed to keep on trying. So, third time’s the charm.

Before deciding to run again, I really wanted to continue to help UNM-LA. After the appointment of a new board member, I was approached by the Advisory Board and UNM-LA administration to

Since then Los Alamos has passed $60 million in bond funds and received $20 million in matching State funds.

Wadt: On Supporting The School Bond

By BILL WADT
Los Alamos

The ballots for the 2017 school bond were mailed out Jan. 3. There are many good reasons to vote yes. I want to focus on two of them.

For nearly 20 years, I have been involved in the school bond process as a community member. During that time what has impressed me the most is how seriously school leaders have taken their obligation to taxpayers and to students on getting the most out of every school bond dollar. The decisions to integrate new construction and renovation have maximized attractive classroom space for the available funding.

By PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA
Washington, D.C.

In 1796, as George Washington set the precedent for a peaceful, democratic transfer of power, he also set a precedent by penning a farewell address to the American people. And over the 220 years since, many American presidents have followed his lead.

On Tuesday, Jan. 10, I’ll go home to Chicago to say my grateful farewell to you, even if you can’t be there in person.

I’m just beginning to write my remarks. But I’m thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this Read More
