WASHINGTON, D.C.  U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and Tom Udall (D-N.M.) secured final Senate passage of their bill to establish two new wilderness areas, the Cerro del Yuta Wilderness and Rio San Antonio Wilderness, within the Río Grande del Norte National Monument northwest of Taos, New Mexico.

The Office of the New Mexico Secretary of State has levied penalties of more than $5,000 against the Republican Party of Los Alamos County for failure to file financial reports.

Kenneth Ortiz of the Secretary of State’s Office told the Los Alamos Daily Post that the local party has not filed the required financial reports for the reporting period due last October and those due earlier this month. Governor Announces Program To Monitor Outcome Of DWI Cases In New Mexico’s Courts

ALBUQUERQUE — Gov. Susana Martinez has announced that an RFP has been awarded to Mothers Against Drunk Driving for an initiative that will place monitors in certain courtrooms across the state to watch the DWI adjudication process and provide information to the public about how those cases are being handled.

Simon On Intel’s Plan To Lay Off 12,000 Workers

RIO RANCHO – Intel announced Tuesday that it will lay off 12,000 members of its global workforce, which at the end of last year was about 107,300 people.

Intel said most of the employees affected by the layoffs will be notified in the next 60 days, while some of the cuts may happen through mid-2017.

Intel is the largest computer chipmaker in the world but has failed to replicate that success across mobile devices that have now replaced traditional desktops and laptops.

Udall, Heinrich, Luján Announce LWCF Purchase Of Galisteo Basin Historic Sites At Burnt Corn Pueblo

WASHINGTON, D.C.  U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich and U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján have announced that the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) will be used to promote preservation and open up access to more than 2,000 acres of land in Santa Fe County’s Galisteo Basin.
 
$1.5 million in LWCF funding will purchase the Burnt Corn Pueblo site, a 365-acre parcel near Santa Fe County Road. Burnt Corn Pueblo is one of 24 nationally significant archaeological sites in the basin, home to Native American and Spanish ruins.
