ALBUQUERQUE — Today, Gov. Susana Martinez and local leaders are gathering in Albuqueruqe to remind New Mexicans that anyone who suspects that child abuse or neglect is taking place must report it.
 
Reports of suspected child abuse or neglect decline over the summer months, when children are not in school. New Mexicans can easily report suspected child abuse or neglect by dialing #SAFE.

ALBUQUERQUE — Wednesday July 1, Gov. Susana Martinez announced that the U.S. Air Force is now pumping and treating water from a jet fuel leak first detected at Kirtland Air Force Base in 1999.
 
While previous administrations failed to hold the Air Force accountable, Gov. Martinez’s administration has worked closely with the Air Force to facilitate the clean-up.

Udall, Heinrich Urge Minimizing Impact Of Data Breach, Improving Security Controls

U.S. SENATE News: 

WASHINGTON, D.C.Wednesday, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich strongly urged the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to take steps to minimize harm to federal employees in New Mexico and across the country who were affected by the recent data breach that resulted in the theft of millions of employees’ personal information.

DOE To Assess Groundwater At LANL

DOE News:

In an Environmental Assessment (EA), the Department of Energy proposes to further evaluate, characterize and address chromium contamination in the groundwater beneath Mortandad Canyon at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The proposed action consists of two activities:

  • Chromium Plume Control Interim Measure, would hydraulically control the downgradient migration of the chromium groundwater plume in the regional aquifer.
  • Chromium Plume-Center Characterization, would identify and evaluate the feasibility of potential long-term actions to fully remediate the chromium

Udall, Heinrich Announce $365,000 to Prevent Drunk Driving, Improve Traffic Safety

U.S. SENATE News:

WASHINGTON D.C. Thursday, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich announced more than $365,000 for the New Mexico Department of Transportation to help prevent drunk driving and improve safety on New Mexico roads.

The funds will support local safety efforts including sobriety checkpoints, seat belt safety education and enforcement, and ignition interlock programs.
