WASHINGTON, D.C.  The Financial Services Roundtable, as part of a joint trade effort, sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee leaders urging lawmakers to strengthen a pending bill that could help stop patent trolls from extorting exorbitant fees from American businesses and consumers.

Udall, Tester Introduce Bill To Prevent Damaging Cuts In Indian Country

WASHINGTON, D.C.  U.S. Senators Tom Udall, D-N.M., and Jon Tester, D-Mont., have introduced legislation to prevent the return of damaging across-the-board budget cuts that significantly impacted health care, education, public safety, and housing throughout Indian Country.

Officials Reach Special Legislative Session Agreement

STATE News:

SANTA FE – Gov. Susana Martinez and leaders of the New Mexico Senate and New Mexico House of Representatives reached agreement Wednesday evening on three pieces of legislation to be passed in a special legislative session.

House Passes De-Escalation Training-Mental Health Services Amendment

WASHINGTON, D.C.  The House voted overwhelmingly, 417-10, to pass an amendment by U.S. Reps. Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), Earl Blumenauer (OR-03) and Tim Murphy (PA-18) that invests an additional $2 million in crisis-intervention training for state and local law enforcement, along with mental health and substance abuse treatment, and rehabilitation and community re-entry services.
 
The provision was added to the Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill that will be considered tonight.
