Enrollment Underway for Summer Art Camp at Bilingual Montessori

Enrollment for  Summer Art Camp at Bilingual Montessori School is now open. 

The program will serve kids from first to fifth grade.

Bilingual Montessori School has a year-round program for children from 6 weeks of age through kindergarten.

During the summer, the school offers a Montessori based program focused on the arts for older children as well.

Volunteer Opportunities on Santa Fe National Forest

SFNF News:

The Santa Fe National Forest is offering spring trail projects to volunteers to build new sections of trail.

Specific projects include construction of winding trails and retaining walls. There are six days from which to choose and there is no experience required.

The trail projects will be hosted on the Dead Dog Trail, located west of Santa Fe in the Caja del Rio for the following dates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day:

  • Saturday, March 30

Two teenagers from Los Alamos were crowned King and Queen of Pajarito Mountain at Saturday’s Skiesta.

Steven Calhoun, 15, won first place in the Rail Jam and Sloppy Slalom events. JoAnna O’Neill, 15, won first place in the Rail Jam, Sloppy Slalom, Giant Slalom and Big Air events.

Roadrunners Set to Launch 40th Season

The Atomic City Road Runners Club is set to begin its 40th season next month.

The big event takes off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at the trailhead parking lot of Canyon Rim Trail, which is off East Road (N.M. 502.)

The Club will continue to meet every Tuesday through early October for one and three mile runs/walks at various courses throughout Los Alamos County.

Valles Caldera Trust Welcomes New Trustee

JEMEZ SPRINGS – Catherine Allen was officially appointed as the newest member of the Valles Caldera Trust, Board of Trustees Thursday.

She is the fifth trustee appointed by President Barack Obama and joins Kent Salazar and Karyn Stockdale, who were also appointed by the Obama administration.

YMCA Opens Second Facility March 11

YMCA News:

In support of expanding health opportunities to the community, The Family YMCA will celebrate the grand opening of a second facility, the YMCA Express, 140 Central Park Square, March 11.

Throughout the day, community members are invited to try classes 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at no charge. The day includes equipment and new class demonstrations, an open-house lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and at 12:30 p.m., a ribbon cutting.
