Singer-songwriter Jim Scott brings his “Pete Seeger Songfest” to the Unitarian Church of Los Alamos at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15 at 1738 N. Sage St. Admission is $15 at the door.

Scott’s concert in Los Alamos will focus on the music of the late folk legend, Pete Seeger. Scott collaborated on many projects with Seeger, and leads a celebration of Seeger’s and his own songs of earth, justice and peace. A prolific composer in his own right, Scott’s guitar skill and infectious manner brought Seeger to call him “some kind of magician.”

The annual July 4th Children’s Parade and Carnival was held again this year at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 366 Grand Canyon in White Rock.

The Children’s Parade began at 10 a.m. today after a brief flag ceremony and singing of the National Anthem. Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts led the parade.

Seventeenth Annual Knights Of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament

Over seventeen years the annual Knights of Columbus Scholarship Golf Tournament has attracted sponsors and golfers from Los Alamos and around Northern New Mexico.

Funds raised from the event provide scholarships to graduating Los Alamos High School seniors. All graduating LAHS students can apply for the scholarship.

During the 17-year period of the tournament, the Knights have awarded an estimated $130,000 inscholarship money to graduating high school seniors. Donations to the event are tax deductible Read More
