GUTHRIE, OK — After a standout season and an impressive showing on the national stage, Paige Trujillo returned home with one of the highest honors in junior high rodeo competition.

Trujillo, an eighth-grade student at Los Alamos Middle School, earned the title of Reserve World Champion in Junior High Girls Goat Tying, securing the No. 2 spot in the nation at the 21st Annual National Junior High Finals Rodeo (NJHFR), held June 21–27 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — State Senator Nicole Tobiassen (R-Albuquerque) today celebrated the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling upholding state laws that keep transgender athletes out of women’s and girls’ sports, calling the decision “a long overdue win for fairness and for every girl who just wants a fair shot.”

FBI: Woman Pleads Guilty To Assault With Dangerous Weapon

ALBUQUERQUE — A Prewitt, N.M. woman pleaded guilty to stabbing a man during a dispute. According to court documents, on Jan. 6, 2026, Naomi Martinez, 24, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, kicked and stabbed John Doe in the face, head and neck with a kitchen knife, causing serious bodily harm.

Martinez pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon and faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing.
