In the next week, our senate will vote on Rep. Miguel Garcia’s House Bill 77, also known as the Fire Arms Transfer Act. 

The bill would require background checks at gun shows. It has received bipartisan support in the House of Representatives and Gov. Susana Martinez has said she would sign the bill.

Innovate+Educate Announces Grant Recipients

SANTA FE – On Feb. 27, Innovate+Educate announced $200,000 in funding to communities in New Mexico interested in building their talent pipeline. 

The grants will bring together industry, community and education leaders to bridge the skills gap and develop new mechanisms for hiring, skills assessment and training.

A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 193,914 visitors in 2011 spent $9,218,000 in Bandelier National Monument and in communities near the park.
