Third-Party Contractor Cuts Fiber Impacting Limited Number Of County Facilities – Repairs Expected Friday

COUNTY News:

A third-party contractor bored into a Los Alamos County-owned fiber line this morning in the vicinity of 20th Street and Trinity Drive.

The damage impacts the phone and internet services for a limited number of Los Alamos County facilities, including the Eco Station.

It is also affecting external phone service for Los Alamos Public Schools.

Repairs are scheduled and expected to be completed by noon Friday. Read More

County Eco Station Experiencing Phone And Internet Outage – Trash Pickup Services Not Affected

COUNTY News: 

Los Alamos County’s Eco Station at 3701 East Jemez Road, is experiencing a temporary outage of phone and internet services. Staff are working with service providers to restore connectivity as soon as possible.

According to the Environmental Services staff, this outage will not impact services offered at the Eco Station or regularly scheduled refuse collection.

Customers with an urgent need or requiring immediate assistance, should contact the Los Alamos County Public Works Department directly at 505.660.8150.

This week’s scam is a New Mexico Bank & Trust themed smishing scam!

What is smishing? Smishing (SMS phishing) uses deceptive text messages to trick victims into sharing personal information or clicking malicious links, while phishing uses fraudulent emails and fake websites to achieve the same things. 

It’s still a phishing scam, just via text message.
